If you watched last night, it seems either OSU is not as good as they are being billed at or the new QB is having issues OR the Utes are not too bad, have a decent defense and their new QB (who is huge) is doing pretty good and getting better. Either way they don't appear to be pushovers and at home they could be better than on a rainy night in Oregon.

So boys (I assume no women would want to come near this place) what do you think?

Can beat the Utes or will beat the Utes?

We definitely can, but I'm not holding my breath.

Utah is shuffling QBs around to get its offense going, their defense is not bad but they have not been able to score a lot of points. Our defense is the only decent unit on the team, and if plays well that should be enough.

We will win Saturday. My August predictions are still correct except for Nevada. We will also beat Washington, and finish 5-7. Conclusion: the season ended in week one, at Home, against a second tier team.

At home, I think it's a toss up, leaning towards Cal. A night game at Rice-eccles? Star will feast like a king on Saturday.

Their little stadium and very loud student section provide a legit home field advantage. If John White is "on", it's going to be a long night.

This should be their 'UCLA' game. Still, I think the score will be closer than manhandling we might take.

We'll likely lose to Utah. Our best chance for another win is against Washington at home, and that's a long shot. Most likely scenario is 0-4 the rest of the way for a final season record of 4-8. Goodbye Tedford!

Not a chance. We will be deflated and Rice-Eccles amped. Not like playing in the Palouse.

I only really care that we beat the leg humpers at this point....and fire Tedford.

If a loss in Utah assists in that outcome, fine.

I resist predictions since with Cal..it is senseless..but I think we will now see the "downward spiral" of the team that has so often occured the 2nd half of the season lately..
Where is there any evidence that we will gain spirit, leadership, unity, motivation, cohesion, and better line play in one week, under the current circumstances in an away game?? It just isn't going to happen..and put up another L for UW..we are terrible..absolutely terrible even at home. Utah linemen are probably on steroids..no I mean, we aren't used to playing at night...I mean look at our injuries..oh, and those darker uniforms make us look skinny..and who is our strength coach, anyway???

If history has taught us anything, it is that Maynard plays quite well against poor teams, and faceplants against stiffer defenses. With that in mind, I think we see good Maynard and we roll.

Thank God this game is not at home.

And because Cal is a tanking program and the morale has got to be pretty low on the team going into a road contest at Utah. The question also, is how much support does the Utah team have from their fan base in general and this season specifically? Utah seems to be better than Wazzu, and that horrible team was still in the game going into the final quarter so anything goes I would guess.

But the one road win was against WSU, so we really haven't been challenged. I think we should design plays to go directly at Utah's strength like we did against the furd. :sarc:

IOWs, if we try to "establish the run" up the middle for 2 quarters while falling behind because it results in our defense defending a short field, we will lose. Otherwise I think we have a decent chance.

Is there some "magic" team alixir out there that I don't know about?? Oh, the "hate Tosh" thing? We are cooked. 0-3 coming up and Tedford stays..but what do we know? (see our prediction threads the last few seasons)...
