Here's my interpretation:

They came here about 10 years ago. Older bro is/was 26, so he would have come here at 16. Bad time to adjust. Too late to adopt good language and cultural norms. Hard to fit in at a very difficult time, in terms of maturity. If you came as a 26 year old, you are more mature to deal with it.

Meanwhile, younger bro (still alive) was maybe 9 when he came. For him, there is still time to learn the language responsibly well.

9 is much different developmentally from 16.

Anyways, so with a hugely heavy accent, and not having been able to attend middle and high school here (last couple years, maybe) I imagine the older bro must have not been able to fit in well, not good economic prospects, and always an outsider.

The older bro was into boxing, and apparently (from what I read last night) had posted something online that he hated it here, had no friends. He was a naturalized US citizen, last year, Wolf Blitzer just said.

My hunch is that the older brother was bitter and turned the younger brother, who all his peers are saying on TV that he was an angel, totally cool.

Older brother is the brazen one who got out of the car and went walking toward the cops, blasting away with guns last night in Watertown. Younger bro turned the car around and ultimately at some point ran his brother over and escaped by splitting cop cars, denting their doors and such. Older bro got riddled with bullets and had bomb stuff strapped to his waste. Did he die from detonation? Bullets? Or younger bro plowing him over in a panic?

Younger bro's location is not (so far as we know) known at this time. I imagine he is hiding and scared and wishes he could wake up and have this be one big long bad dream.

I don't think he's going to be captured alive. He will either allow himself to die one way or another, or a trigger happy police force will plug him due to perceived danger.

Could be but I tried calling the local FBI field office and waited over an hour, then had to hunt like hell to find their damn web address which was buried three clicks deep in Contact and then sent them the link. Have heard nothing from the Feds and don't expect that I will.

1. People are so dense these days about reading other people. All they do is take their words for it. "He seemed nice." No understanding of subtext, non-verbal cues. Meanwhile, he's all jihadist, muslim radical in the social media.

2. Where was the background checking when these guys applied for citizenship?
