Nick Pasquale WR hit by a car. Passed away this morning according to Twitter feed. Prayers and thoughts for his friends and family.

Horrible, heartbreaking news. Condolences to Nick's friends, family and to our Bruin cousins. So very sad.

I will probably be hounded for saying this: but the Pac-12 should honor him with a moment of silence before the next game. And it would be nice for the Pac-12 to somehow commemorate him through the rest of the season. In the end, these are student-athletes and they give their hearts and souls to us on the playing field while being challenged in the classroom. Life is an ineffable and ephemeral miracle. I am disheartened to say the least. He lost out on the better part of his lif, he never had the chance to become the man he was working toward. And the loss to his family and friends. It is just utter sadness.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, his friends and the players at UC Westwood.

Very sad.

p.s. Terrible thread title. I don't think UCLA losing a receiver is the biggest tragedy in this. I clicked it thinking they had someone tear an ACL or something.

Ditto. Really sad. That transcends any rivalry between us.

To NJ's point....I'm not sure of this but I believe he was a walk-on, which shows a totally different kind of dedication that, to me, goes beyond the "entitled" schollie player.

I agree. Kind of misleading. not exactly what I was expecting when I heard they lost a player.

Thoughts go out to UCLA, and this kid's family and friends. Puts things in to perspective.

I think the article said he was crossing a street at 1 am. Nothing good happens after 12 pm. In my line of work, I see only badness, and I mean real badness happens most often from 1 -3 pm.

Condolence to the family. Can't imagine losing a child at the peak of their life.

YES. I always think the same thing when I hear the time of day most of this stuff is reported to have happened. A friend of mine works at Santa Clara University, and there have been a few sexual assaults this past year as well as someone driving 60 mph down a residential street and smashing into a tree. All of these things happened after midnight on streets that I know are quite safe (boring as hell, in fact) during the day and even in the early evening.

This is not to suggest in any way that these victims or the UCLA player deserved what they got (something that happens way too much on message boards). RIP and condolences to his loved ones.

I can see that your thoughts were on his friends and family because they clearly weren't on coming up with a thread title appropriate to the situation.

+1

Some thing are better said if not put into the context of football.

The accident occurred in San Clemente, near Pasquale's home. R.I.P. Nick.

There have been a lot worse. Not a big deal.

In response to someone who said the Pac 12 should hold a oment of silence I agree. Maybe even do more, Maybe a patch or something. I'm sure UCLA will do something.
