Report: Snoop Dogg's Son, Cordell Broadus, Has Quit UCLA Football

Snoop Doggs Son Cordell Broadus Quits UCLA Football

This past offseason, one of the most intriguing college football prospects, for obvious reasons, was rapper Snoop Dogg's son, Cordell Broadus. Broadus, a four-star wide receiver recruit out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, eventually chose to play for UCLA, the rival school of his father's favorite university, USC. There was even a show on ESPN, titled Snoop & Son: A Dad's Dream, dedicated to Broadus' senior year of high school.

Well, it turns out, according to Scout, that Broadus won't be suiting up for the Bruins after all. In fact, he won't be suiting up for any school. Broadus has not reported to camp and has not contacted the team's staff. He apparently no longer wants to play football. Per Scout:

He is admitted to UCLA, and attended UCLA's summer session, so he'll be able to remain enrolled and attend UCLA.

According to sources close to the situation, it was more than likely a matter of Broadus "wanting to do his own thing," since his father had always pushed him to play football.

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman also confirmed the report.

Broadus had offers from dozens of top schools, including Notre Dame, Florida State, Baylor, LSU and Nebraska. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.

They can't be 4 star recruits without putting in serious effort and hard work. Their parents did not give them their athleticism and skill. They earned it. Could've been a bit overrated due to their profiles, but still.. Hale started as a true frosh.

but their parents status could/probably have played roles to increase chances a being a productive pop warner or hs player at least in in hale and calivn's situation .. puffy son idk what is up with that did he walk on he may not be on schollie come to think of it ..

I think a lot of college athletes have parents that can predispose kids to a higher expectation/standards. Like sons of NFL/NBA players and coaches. I don't think that makes them 'not serious'

Many young people are rebellious and reject their parents decadent life of Cristal, coke, and Glocks for the way of Quidditch

I agree. Sometimes things change personally or medically for an 18 y/o.

Diddy's 5'7" son on UCLA is a good thing, as long as he's eating up a schollie

But head coach Jim Mora says Cordell told him he wants to make movies ... "in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions."[LEFT][COLOR=#000000]

"Puffy was a 2star on 247 (FCS guy all the way). Snoop was a 3star for us. Nate's was a 4star. Started 2 games as true frosh"

Cordell is good, but nothing UCLA can't easily replace (Lee, Owens). i'm sure they don't mind the extra scholarship

By conning UCLA out of a schollie? I think it went down like this - Cordell told his Dad he didn't want to play football but wanted to use his football to get into a good school. Snoop told him "you better not do that to my Trojans, but good thinking son. Let's see if we can find a mark".

Kid was the best player on a top 5 nationally ranked team. He's no scrub but when you see the way he literally only did things for his father's approval it's easy to tell his heart wasn't in it. Not to mention that he will never have to worry about money regardless so there's no fire to have to make it to the nfl.

I've heard sports radio guys (as well as UCLA insiders) predict that as college sports becomes more of a big-money business and more entertainment-industry branding opportunities for athletes open up, UCLA and USC will become consistently elite powerhouses, if not THE dominant two programs in college football. Their recruiting advantage over everyone else will just become too great.

I wonder how the news about Snoop's son fits into this theory. :rollinglaugh:

Yeah let's be real. If those kids wanted to go to furd, they would have gotten in. Likely true at every Ivy as well. Money and quasi-celebrity status = admissions exceptions.
