For me I have a cousin visiting from the Bay Area (a Cal employee) and we are vising wineries, Indian Casinos for three days.
A good diversion since Valentine's Day (Sunday) has been a downer since my wife passed away.
The weather in San Diego County has been wonderful, a great time to be out and about.
I'm sure it will be a great weekend on the slopes for skiers.
For football junkies not as much.
But does anybody celebrate this Federal Holiday in memory of the Presidents or of the democracy they helped create?
Back when they were separate holidays I made a token celebration with cherry pie in memory of Washington.
But one small town in Oregon is proud to be American today as American flags lined the streets of Burns Oregon.
The standoff has ended; the last occupiers arrested; even Cliven Bundy arrested (at long last...); the town can return to just being.
If I were in Portland I would be going to Curious Comedy Theater for comedic relief and to hear "The Ballad of the Malheur Patriots"
commemorating the end of the long standoff with the stirring words ""Patrioootttts, Patrioootttts, Stormin' a building surrounded by ducks."
Truth be told, it's available on line, but that's the reason I would like to be there in person.

Before I retired this was the last long holiday weekend before Memorial Day we always did something special. One year we went to Vegas,
Not realizing it was the Weekend of the NBA All Star game in Vegas; a logistics nightmare.
Still this was always a weekend to do something, What You'all doing?
