The reference to seeing Joan Baez at Furd singing The Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down reminded me that I saw her in the fall of 1971 perform that song at the Greek Theater. I was 17 years old and a senior at O'Dowd at the time. Joan was amazing. She had a hit song with that cover version. Levon Helm nailed the vocal too-but no hit.
