Unfortunately, with the understanding that Dish carried PAC 12 Bay Area, i got Dish. I'm trying to figure out how to extend recording time. Could someone, please, explain how/if I can do this. Thanks a mil, B:headbang

I can't speak to the Hopper 3, but with the Hopper 2 it will automatically add an extra hour when you record any sporting event. It's come in handy many times for me the past few years.

I have found Dish to be the better of Comcast and DirecTV. Just call their customer service, also best of that group; you can set the recording times for extra (both ways) how much you want.

Thanks, I figured it out. My experience with Dish, unfortunately, has been epically bad. Five techs have been to my house...so far!

I must've gotten the only good one. Haven't had problems that weren't easily fixed.

One thing I don't like for the Hopper3 is the remote...otherwise mostly works ok.

Hey all, while we're on this topic, i'm considering the switch to Dish from Comcast. I am currently paying over $200 for Comcast for all channels, where I can get a comparable plan for about $80 with Dish. Anyone have insight as to why it's a no-brainer to switch to Dish? Their Hopper seems much better than the Comcast X1. I heard that sports viewing isn't as clear on Dish. Can any of my fellow sports fans comment on that as well? Thanks.

The techs have been great...all of them. The problem is/was that they told me I could get PAC 12 Bay Area. Nobody knew I couldn't until the Grand Pooba of techs discovered we don't offer PAC 12 BA. So now I'm at war to cancel my contract. They have what they call the Office of the President which is the only body that can cancel contracts, supposedly. On a positive note I've met most of the techs in my area and they are all good people. Also, through the Dish Network call center, I have spoke with someone from each of the 7,000 islands of the Philippines.:gobears:
