I think they may have written that before they knew the Big Game result.

That said, I'd love to have practice until the end of the month, so go SI!

I'm not sure that is is. I believe we are 7th out of the 7 Pac 12 Bowl Eligible teams due to being 4-5 in conference (the weakest record). There could be an argument for ranking us above Arizona State, as the schools didn't play head to head, and we have a slight edge versus common opponents. (they beat UCLA, we lost; they lost to Washington & Colorado, we won; we both lost to Stanford, Oregon, and we both beat SC).

I think the only way it is possible is if Washington State ends up in a NY6 bowl (Fiesta?) along with Washington, and the Sun Bowl picks us over Arizona State, which seems unlikely.

It's not. They have Stanford in a bowl (Cheez-It) that picks after the one they have us in (Sun). In what world does a Stanford team with a better overall record, better conference record, and recent head-to-head win get picked behind Cal?

Answer: it doesn't. Not unless there is some major horse-trading and shenanigans going on between all the Pac-12 bowls, and again, why would there be? Is a 7-5 Cal team with a bad offense really that much of a draw?

I think the only realistic bowls for Cal are Las Vegas and Cheez-It.
