There are two Pac-10 candidates, not the top two. There are 2-3 other candidates as well.

The smart jocks might give it some thought. It is usually the AD and/or the Chancellor who stands between the coach who recruited them getting fired, and they are the ones who can pull that trigger and change the lives of those recruits overnight.

Who could blame him? I haven't read much of anything positive about the man since he was hired, especially on this board. This isn't the 40s and 50's, when Cal was nationally prominent in football, basketball, baseball, track and field, rugby, and crew, I think. Cal sports are now swimming, gymnastics, golf and other minor sports, with the major sports struggling for respectability. We don't have land or money or will to build new facilities, or hire name coaches, and give the coach a big recruiting budget. Traveling a lot to see recruits is expensive. Knowlton is hired and expected to work miracles overnight. We are a hard lot, a demanding lot (of fans). It is what it is, and good luck to the next guy.
