Verbal Commits: "2022 Prolific Prep (CA) F Yohan Traore has received an offer from California."

Traore is 6-foot-10, 210 and out of France. The Bears are his ninth offer.

TT, Creighton, SB, etc

It's becoming difficult for me to pay much attention to prospects we haven't signed.

Prolific Prep pipeline.

I'd think a French kid might feel more at home in Berkeley than some of the other campus locations on his list.

Here is a video, mostly dunks off passes, but the last segment he displays very good ball handling taking the ball in from half court on a steal:

It's good to have stretch goals, but most of our offers are for four star athletes. Seems like this staff should be focused on less sought-after recruits. I'm not too familiar with recruiting strategy - maybe you offer the most coveted athletes first and, when they commit elsewhere, start offering plan b,c,d, etc? We're not going to win too many battles with Kansas and Gonzaga.
I'm basically just starved for ANY good basketball news.

California is in a famine and has been since 1959. Sure, there have been tastes here and there, but don't expect to eat any time soon, especially with a fox in the lair.

I also not so interested in our "offers". Probably has to be done to recognize the recruit. Really would like to see results of a signing. Keeping a list of who Fox recruits--really have not seen any results in signing. BB enthusiasm from me is very small.

Traore looks athletic enough to be capable of much more than the dunk fest shown in the video. Cal has a strong academic reputation in France, if that's of any interest to the recruit. I think San Francisco is also a "sister City" to Paris.

The fact he went to prep school in Napa may also be an indication he likes the area.

Heh, San Francisco has like 20 "sister cities", including communist ones.

As noted in another thread, Cal is the number 1 college in food. That has to mean something for a Frenchie.

This was several years back... SF was trying to punch above their weight and was somehow lobbying to be sister cities with Paris. The response was something to the effect of, "Paris has and will always have only one sister city and that is Rome."

Oh. Never mind.

Ok, SF is a sister city of Paris: Paris has a lot of sister cities: http://en.sistercity.info/sister-cities/Paris.html

SF has these sister cities: http://en.sistercity.info/sister-cities/San%20Francisco.html

Certainly wasn't #1 for food in the dorms...

I'd liken that more to #2.

If he his looking for fellow French speakers, the LSU general region is going to be way ahead in the pecking order.

Not that a French person would be able to understand it.
