It's easy to make fun of Knowlton...We all know he didn't have a basketball background. But, he was hired by the Chancellor who probably doesn't know (or care) the difference between a watermelon and a basketball. And, then, remember the Chancellor was hired by someone who probably couldn't identify a basketball if he tripped over it. Everything starts at the top....So, if you don't change the anti-athletic mindset at the highest levels, you are just re-arranging the furniture on the Titanic...

Fox appeared very late on the post-game show.
1) We didn't play well enough to win
2) We are going to work very hard in the future
3) We don't know if Kelly is coming back...
4) Go Bears

Those are rinse and repeat steps for a long career in cal athletics. Contract extensions for everyone.

What is the point of following? The cal diploma has served me well but it has a decay factor. At this point in my career it doesn't matter if I went to Cal. So what does matter? Cal football and basketball and how well we do. Someone should have told me that the 40 year decision should account for their athletic programs!!!

What was Knowlton's football background?

His education is civil engineering. He spent his career in the Army. His sports background is hockey. He had brief stints at military academies. He did not hire or fire a coach until Cal.

It is tough to make fun of him. He made $175,000 at Air Force and he makes $925,000 a year at Cal with a contract until 2029. That is a huge salary, especially when he outsourced his toughest decision and just hands out raises and extensions like it isn't his money and there is no accountability. If anyone is laughing at anyone, he should be laughing at us.

Dang! We should be expecting a lot more from the AD as I did not expect him to be making so much. Any other place and he'd be fired but we extended him. Sheesh. Horrible hire - Carol Christ should be terminated especially if, as some believe, she actually cares about our sports.

Knowlton should be forced to watch every cal basketball going forward so that he can suffer through what the fans are.

I'm willing to wait a week or two to see what develops. Not that I have any optimism, or even any choice.
