Sadly we don't get any mention in the article (including the section about coaches on the hot seat) but at the bottom every analyst predicted we finish 11th in the conference

Yes, our competition is OSU and Utah for 10, 11 and 12.

I guess the writers have Knowlton read and figure Fox's job is safe with another 11th place finish.

My take is that Knowlton uses this as the barometer for success.

Therefore, if we finish 12th, we were only one position worse than expected. If we finish 10th, the Utah coach will be fired and Fox will be given an 8 year extension with a steep buyout clause (to prevent Knowlton from second guessing himself, when Fox finishes 11th after USC and UCLA depart the Pac - 12).

Fox will be rumored to be offered the head coaching job at Kansas replacing Bill Self, but will supposedly turn it down.

Knowlton will then extend him for 10 years, because if Kansas wants him then he must be good!
