Why? Other than Shantay played for a few years as a Bear? .595 winning percentage over 4 plus years. Not really any great claim to fame on the recruiting front.

Meanwhile the Kicker is .609 INCLUDING the years in New Orleans that have a big asterix as the college post-katrina transitioned out of D1 and released all their scholarship obligations.. 707 at UCSB over 5 seasons. Recruited like mad all the good players from the Solidiers to Arizona. 2 road losses this year - the flagstaff one to UNA being a semi red flag that one would want to know more about. 7 wins, Strongly supported by alumni that write big 8 figure checks. Knows the West coast Coaching community. Rumored to have cal as his dream job.

This isn't close. He really is the only sane choice baring something bizzaro like COach K wanting to come to Berkeley.
