Well, I'm currently seriously drinking about it deciding which way to place the krugerrands.

By beating "mighty" Furd once -- and resoundingly so -- we've already won. Playing with house money this weekend.

will Clayton, Askew and Sam play?

That's all part of the fun. Pursuant to the "I'm a great coach f'd by injuries"narrative, you never know who he is going to pull right before tipoff to keep feeding that beast.

If we can stay within 15 points of the Furds I'll be pleasantly surprised.

….and the officials at Maples alone are worth 10.5 points.

how did stanford go from atrocious to merely horrible?

Hard to figure how you go from a 22 point win at home to an 11 dog on the road in a month. That speaks a lot to home court advantage.

And how bad a coach Haase is.

We scored 92 in the first game, fastest pace all year. Clayton, Alajiki (off the bench) and Kuany were the big scorers.

Obviously, if Clayton and Alajiki are available, I think your default is to go with what worked in the first game and stick with it if it is working. If it isn't working we could fall behind by 20 easily.

The issue will be if Clayton and Alajiki are not available Fox might revert to his slow down style, and 10 points would be huge.

I wouldn't want to bet on this one, too much is dependent on what Fox chooses to do. I can see him going either way.

In the first game, Joel Brown was driving through their defense like a hot knife through butter and Haase never did anything to counter it. If it's the same this evening, he really cements himself as one of the worst X's and 0's coaches ever. (had to qualify it as "X's and 0's coach" because, you know... )

As lousy as we've been going back to WJ's first season, our record against Furd has been good. I wanna say above .500, what with that win in the conference tourney.

stanford's defensive strategy was to prevent points in the paint. everytime the ball went to Lars he was double and triple teamed

they let our perimeter players have more space, and played clayton straight up. cal shooters hit their first shots, got confidence, and then got scorching hot

surprisingly stanford didn't make any adjustments at halftime besides sitting their starting pg, and running with their more talented younger pg

since then, teams haven't allowed clayton any space, and doubled him to keep him from getting into the paint

stanford will have a completely different defensive strategy than last time, and we won't be at home

one interesting thing will be if we get back both clayton and sam, and still have askew

Yeah, part of the betting on this game is betting on what Haase will do too. You can't count on either coach to do the smart thing or make adjustments. Could get out of hand in either direction. We could win by 20 again or lose by 20. Or Fox will go slow down out the gate and try to keep it close.

I saw Stephen Stills (and guest Neil Young) after the Big Game '75 at Maples.

*That is Flo and Eddie of Turtles and Mother's of Invention fame in the Furd Football shirts (what b@itches). Apparently they opened the concert. I have zero memory of that… but then again, " You know when your mouth a-getting dry your plenty high."

Correct me if wrong, but I think Askew was out and Brown and Clayton carried them in the first win. Saw my first game with Askew in last weekend and was not impressed. Hope it was from rust developed while injured but didn't show much.

interesting. Vague memory of getting stranded on the farm like 81or so and having to go to a few Stanford frats just to bum a ride to get back to Berkeley

Clayton (especially), Alajiki and Kuany were the big scorers, with Alajiki and Okafor played well off the bench. Brown played well, yes.
