Many of you are in the same boat as me, long time season ticket holders and very passionate about Cal Basketball.

Cal does not care if you renew or not. That is the main thing to know. They don't care about the lost revenue. Not renewing will have no effect on firing Fox.money comes from many places to support. Cal Athletics . Ticket sales are very minor in the scheme of things.

Don't renew if it hurts you to watch Cal basketball. Don't renew if it upsets you to make the effort going and then you feel worse than if you stayed home when the game is over,. Don't renew if laughing opposing fans are the only fans near you. Don't renew if no friends will go with you anymore. Dont renew if you are getting older and have trouble seeing at night to go and watch crap.Don't renew if it is a financial burden and Cal refuses to lower the price for chairback seats.

Renew if none of that matters and you just need somewhere to go. I submit you can find other things to do which will give you more enjoyment. You can buy a warrior mini plan for what we pay for chairback seats. You can get a subscription to the San Francisco Symphony. You can go to plays in SF and buy the best seats.

Here we are when Knowlton wanted to retain Wyking Jones. I have no confidence that Fox will be fired. If he does, pay attention to who the search firm hires before renewing.

Thanks OD. You nailed the main thing to know. Cal doesn't care. They may see it as ticket revenue, but that misses the much, much larger point of community engagement. That is the huge fail here. Christ. Knowlton, Fox - so many more are simply waaay too provincial and myopic to even comprehend the massive mistakes they are making over and over and over again.

There's no logical basis for the conclusion that they're all too inept to realize the consequences of their actions. It has to be intentional, which only makes it worse. Frankly fielding a competitive (not necessarily elite) men's basketball program is so (relatively) cheap and easy there's no other way to explain it. Hundreds of schools across the country with a fraction of the resources of Cal manage the feat.
Please give to Cal Legends at https://calegends.com/calegendsdonate/donate-football/ and encourage everyone you know who loves Cal sports to do it too.

To be in the Top 1% of all NIL collectives we only need around 10% of alumni to give $300 per year. Please help spread the word. "If we don't broaden this base we're dead." - Sebastabear

Thanks for reading my sig! Please consider copying or adapting it and using it on all of your posts too. Go Bears!

I agree with all of this. They don't care because most of the revenue comes from TV, and that money is the same whether the team is any good or not. I stopped renewing because so many of the games are during the week, and I can't get there. If they offered a package of just weekend and holiday games, I probably would have bought one. For now, I use my dad's tickets when he doesn't want to go or can't go, or just buy them cheap on the secondary market. Normally only UA and UCLA draw a crowd, and that's not even going to happen this year.

This does seem to be the case, which is phenomenally stupid. Where do they think the next generation of donors come from?

On the bright side, we made the top 300 in NET rankings.

This AD and this hoops program are disgraceful.

If you really want to look on the bright side, thanks to the Bears' two conference wins, Cal is NOT the worst power conference team this year.

We battled Louisville for which team would get its first win, Louisville got there first, but after beating a better team in Louisville to get that first win (Western Kentucky, current NET ranking 183) and then eeking out another home win by 6 against a really bad team (Florida AM&, current NET ranking 359 out of 363!), Louisville is winless in the ACC and not likely to get another win this year.

I think Louisville is going to get the title of worst power conference team season ever. Cal was vying for the title, but the Colorado and Stanford wins realistically have left us with little chance of even being the worst this year.

" You can buy a warrior mini plan for what we pay for chairback seats.."

I wouldn't buy Joe Lacob a hot dog. How many times did he stiff Oakland for the cost of the Championship Parade? He refused to accept negative rulings on his obligation to pay for the improvements to the Arena and appealed and lost.

The total tuition cost for my 4 years at Cal was less than $3000. That being the case, I by two season tickets to Cal hoop and football every year.

On the other hand, this guy can kiss my pasty Irish arse:
