Thank God for Louisville or else Cal would be getting even more bad press. The article didn't even mention Cal. I see some similarities though Louisville fired successful people for breaking rules (rightly so) and replaced them with mediocrities while Cal worked hard to retain their mediocrities and even extended their contracts without any good reasons to do so.

That said, the article points out that you only need to recruit a couple of good players to compete. Louisville apparently has two 4 star recruits coming in next year. I see nothing that makes me believe Fox and his staff are capable of anything like that. Of course, if they did, they would never tell anyone before signing day.

Louisville is stealing our national publicity!

As already noted on this thread, a college basketball team can be turned around (in either direction) in two years, or even one, given the new landscape. What's more, we know how to do it:
1) better coaching staff
2) competitive NIL
3) semi-competitive practice facility (longer term)

The word "Powerhouse" should have tipped you off.

The word "powerhouse" gave it away that it couldn't be Cal

It doesn't seem like all that long ago we beat them in the first round of the tourney, but I guess it's been 13 years. Louisville hasn't made the tourney the last four years though so "powerhouse" is an overstatement.

Well, they did win the whole thing about ten years ago. There's also this from Wikipedia:

Louisville has made 42 NCAA Tournament appearances (5th all-time) and 15 NIT appearances. The Cardinals have reached the NCAA Tournament 32 of the last 40 years (12 of the last 15, 14 of the last 18 years, 20 of last 25). Since the NCAA began keeping Sweet Sixteen appearance records in 1975, Louisville's 21 Sweet Sixteens are 5th all-time behind North Carolina (26), Kentucky (25), Duke (24), and Kansas (22). The Cardinals have reached the Elite Eight on 14 occasions, including five of the past nine seasons. Louisville is sixth in tournament victories (75) with a 7541 overall NCAA Tournament record, reaching the Final Four 10 times.

Certainly not a power house recently, but bottom line, it's a program that matters. Cal, not so much.
