Yea, when Gates was successful at Cleveland St. I was really hoping we would make a run at him. When we hired Fox, Gates only experience was as an Assistant so would have been a tough hire coming off the Jones era.
That being said Gates was offered $4MM/yr from Mizzou right off the bat. No way we could have bought Fox out and gotten close to that when Gates was available.
We also really should have beat Mizzou earlier this year. Were we up 20 at half? I probably blacked that game out of my memory at this point b/c that would have been a great win.
