Not so fast - Cal is 5-13 from three so far. 13! in 8 minutes? That seems a bit unbalanced - only 2 shots from inside the arc and one was Bell's fast break dunk after the steal.

at the 8 minute media mark, Cal is 7-18 on threes. Sac State is 7-18 on all shots.
Cal has 8 assists on 11 made baskets!
and Cal now is equal with SacState on rebounds.

That was sure a fun and satisfying game to watch. Beat the teams you are supposed to beat by the margin you are supposed to beat them. Done. I'll say again that our ceiling isn't super high, but we are a good team. The passing, the assists, the shooting, all look so much better than prior years. I'm not sure we have the horses to compete with the southern teacher's college, but we are likely to give them a game.

I wonder about how good we really are… playing cupcakes like Sac St. makes it really hard to assess. For next Tues. I really don't know which way I would bet, a close game or a blowout, both outcomes seem plausible.

Ken Pom has us at #78 with our only loss to #49 K State. Seems about right at this point. That is #14 in the ACC FWIW, but at least ahead of Stanford.

UCLA at #29, so yeah, that game should tell us more.
