So what? It makes no sense to keep such basic information about a key player from all Cal fans, particularly season ticket holders, not just the privileged ones.

The Write for California Dominican recap had it as a lower leg injury that staff thought would be recovered by ACC play so it didn't sound super serious.

But I also recall BJ Omot going from playing the whole USC game to being out to not returning to taking a medical redshirt last year without any initial indications that the injury was season threatening.

It's a pay for info site.
You don't want to pay? Knock yourself out on the free board.

You miss the point. That kind of information should be available to all fans.

100%
Injury reports should be public and transparent, as long as there is no competitive disadvantage. And if it's true that Rytis is done for the season, we shouldn't have to depend on a second-hand ambiguous Twitter report.
I won't even address the "you should pay for this information" BS, so sick of that response on this Forum.

Agreed. I suspect that colleges hide injury info under the umbrella of HIPPA, but in fact, all fans really care about is when an injured player will return. As to the argument that such info could be used to move the point-spread of a future game, it's worth noting that many televised or streamed games show commercials of gambling websites.

So the follow up question to this is, if Rytis is out for the season, will the limited amount of games he played qualify him to play another season?
northbay

He'll probably need to apply for an NCAA waiver since he's played in too many games already (30% seems like the cutoff) but if he doesn't attempt to return and play again this season, I think he will have a shot.

If you are over 30% and also come later in the year, that would likely be an easy denial.

33% or 10 games is the limit and he has only played in 7 (or 8 if Dominican counts). Zero conference games. He should easily get a medical redshirt.

Thankfully, we get some reliable news on the Petraitis injury. Why isn't Campbell playing -- Is he hurt again? He was a valuable contributor last year.

Campbell played tonight and contributed.

Rytis was on crutches at the game (don't think he had been, previously). Maybe he had his surgery.

I much prefer Carr getting the minutes over Campbell.

Our best 7 are:
Ames
Dort
Pippen
Bell
Camden
Ilic
Carr

I'd rather see Madsen maximize their minutes.

Maybe, but Campbell had a good game (2-3, 2 assists, 1 steal, 0 TOs) while Carr looked athletically overmatched (0 points, 0 assists, 1 rebound, 3 TOs)

When Campbell first came in the game, he subbed in for Bell. Sure, he is a "5th guard" kind of player, but he brings strength, energy and fearlessness and can help us, in spots.
