Crumpacker opens every article with a run-on sentence. Here is the latest one:

With plenty to play for in the final week of the regular season, Cal instead produced a manifestly crummy game, its worst of the home schedule, and lost to Utah 63-59 on Wednesday night at Haas Pavilion.

It's not a run-on sentence.

Agreed it's not, just wordy....

He's covering Cal. Why should he give a rip about quality when the team he's covering obviously doesn't?

If he simply removed the word 'instead' (which seems to be missing its contrasting counterpart), the sentence works well.

Works better as a sentence than cal played as a team anyway, as already noted.

I don't think "produce" is the right verb for "game", and you don't really need to say it was a crummy game if also saying it was worst game of home season.

How about something like:

With plenty to play for in the final week of the regular season, Cal played its worst game of the home schedule, and lost to Utah 63-59 on Wednesday night at Haas Pavilion.

Run-on sentence or not, I agree that he is still awful at covering Cal.

For the blog recap of Senior Day, Crumps called one of the seniors, "Johnson." Way to go, Crumps!

From the same article, he also demonstrates his great command of the English language with this tidbit.
