Monty was very impressive tonight:
1) Was very even-handed when describing the strengths and weaknesses of both teams/
2) said Austin was a good, tough kid who will lead the team for the next two years.
3) said vanover will be really good in 2-3 years when he bulks up
4) Said Cal has lots of good shooters
5) said that senior guards are the heart and soul of any team
6) Praised Cal for playing with a lot of heart tonight.
7) Expressed surprise that Anticevich hadn't gotten more playing time
8) Said that WJ needs to be and stay positive because the kids will need lots of support this season.
9) Said that Cal needs to look inside more to take advantage of Kelly
10) I tripped over two Cal co-eds at half-time. Stayed in their laps a little longer than necessary. Hope no-one from from #me too was watching. Can't be too careful these days.
11) Cal can score---we are inexperienced, very porous on defense and very weak on the boards.
12) next year, with the addition of Smith, our ability to hit the three will keep us competitive in many games.
13) because of added depth next year, we will play more man-to-man and that will cut down on teams lighting us up with the three-ball.

A friend of mine once turned in a paper and because he was convinced the teacher was looking at number of pages and sort of "weighing the size of the report" to grade them, he put "squash me, I'm a bug" in the middle of his paper. The teacher wrote "yes, I do read the whole text .....

Roxy does excellent play-by-play, but as for commentators, you are correct, sir.

UCLA finds his broadcast style to be bland and grumpy so they are punishing him?? That's my takeaway.

Also, nice job H2P on that Santa manauever with the students.

I really was at the game: I recorded it and then watched it again when I got to my campsite in the forest. So damn grateful no one sang the anthem. So damn grateful Cal won. A few of the cheerleaders were actually fairly pretty. That made me feel good. OTOH, I've scheduled an eye exam for Monday. Now, if we lose to Cal Poly, please look for me in thge Psyche Ward at your favorite hospital.

One of thge Coeds actually said, " are you okay?" I said, " no, no, i'm not--can I stay here a few more seconds?" I thought she was going to call security but she seemed to understand.

I missed my first game due to a holiday party (darn) so missed the game, only being able to get a peak at the score occasionally without being rude. I watched the recording this morning and have a lot of thoughts, but my quick one is how much I like Monty. Best college analyst by far on Pac12 network and should get more national work

I always miss some games due to travel .

I think I missed 3 last season, so many other Bears better than me.

He averaged 20.5 PPG for 4 seasons.*
