Agreed. Lesser of the 2 evils I suppose.

Length is so important for a basketball team

One thing that hopefully helps us next year is Thorpe getting out on a break even if it's trailing a break

None of our current bigs can run on a break

UW has reverted to Romar days. They are failing the eye test and could be left out. Whatever the opposite of peaking is is what UW is doing. And to think it started at Haas

Better a third PAC 12 team that loses in the first round than a ninth Big 10 team or a sixth Big 12? Maybe Oregon steals from an ACC? Nope. It's Belmont.

They're doing their best to make the Pac-12 a one-bid league, with themselves not the one.

Didn't UW win conference reg season title a few years ago and also get denied a tourney bid?
They are going to want to defect.
That's gotta be so so very frustrating.

Oregon blows out UW

Doesn't surprise me. This is March and talent > experience in March. This is why even Monty's Stanford teams didn't do we in the tournament

UW got to the finals. They are a good team, but iwatched part of UO v ASU game and much of this game, and Ducks length and athleticism, coupled with excellent PG play made it a no contest

UO was flying around on defense and making anything around the basket like going into a lion's den

Duck's King with the punk move at the end. Dickerson gets called for a charge and is bending down with his hands on his knees. King picks up the ball and bounces it off his butt. This happened near end of game with UO leading by 20, and after they shut Dickerson down all game

I hate seeing UO back in the tournament, but at least that means there will probably be 3 from the conference

Little chance of that. Most predictors have UW as an 8 or 9 seed, so they're basically a lock. ASU looks fairly strong on the bubble too. Seems the most likely scenario is for the Pac to get three teams in, despite how crappy it's been.

2012 - the year regular season conference champ UW didn't make the tourney. It was Cal in a "plus four" play in game (that I unfortunately drove 200 miles to attend). Except UW flamed out in the quarterfinals - not the finals.
UW 24-11 (12-4) (loses NIT Semis in OT)
Cal 24-10 (13-5) (loses to South Florida in Dayton)
Oregon 24-10 (13-5) )(loses NIT quarters to UW)
Arizona 23-12 (12-6) - loses first round NIT
Colorado 24-12 (11-7) - tourney champ - automatic bid (beats UNLV, loses to Baylor)
UCLA 19-14 (11-7)
Stanfurd 26-11 (10-8) - wins NIT
OSU 21-15 (7-11) - loses semis CBI to WSU
WSU 19-18 (7-11) (loses finals of CBI)
ASU 10-21 (6-12)
Utah 6-25 (3-15)
USC 6-26 (1-17)

Yes, I remember. That's also exactly as the bracketologists called it at the time, Cal and Colorado in, UW out. This year they are all calling UW in (and most have ASU too).

UW's star PG Jaylen Nowell:

"They're very long," said Nowell, who had eight points on 2-of-8 shooting. "They've got Kenny Wooten in there blocking shots, so when you get past one person, they've got a lot of help coming and we just didn't get any shots today."

3 teams may change that. Unless they all get blown out, I suppose.

Only miss this year was having TCU in and Belmont out. Otherwise they nailed everyone within at least 2 seeds.

By this metric, 2012 was definitely worse for the Pac. In 2010, also only two teams in, but the top team (Cal) got an 8 seed and the other (Washington) an 11. Then Cal dominated Louisville in Round 1 and UW got to the Sweet 16, so not too bad a performance. We'll see if this year's slate fares any better (I suspect not).

2012 will remain the worst, I think. An 11 for the auto-bid (Colorado) and a 12 seed and a play-in game for Cal. The Buffs fell in Round 2 and we got waxed in the First Four.

Oregon crushing Wisconsin. Between this and ASU winning their play-in game (though Buffalo smacked them around today), probably not the worst Pac-12 season ever.
