May be old news. If so, ignore. I think he would rather live in Berkeley instead of Reno

Kareem is a 6-foot-2 185 pound guard originally from Toronto who earned Third Team All Southland Conference honors this year. South is a graduate transfer that Minnesota has contacted.
The Announcement. It was announced last week that South would leave Texas A&M Corpus Christi and look for a new program as a graduate transfer.
The History. South scored over 1,000 career points in his three years at Corpus Christi averaging 13.8 points, five rebounds, and two assists per game (played 32-33 minutes a game). He is a 37 percent three-point shooter and an 83 percent foul shooter. Was named third team all league this year plus he's a two time All Academic performer and a D1-AAA Scholar athlete. South is also said to be an active defender who is behind defined offensively as a playmaker. Averaged 11.4 points in 31 minutes a game shooting 37 percent from the arc as a sophomore, put up 9 points a game making 36 percent of his threes as a freshman.

I wonder what his major was, what hi graduate study field would be.

Perfect. Might even challenge Austin for minutes at PG. Sign grad transfers like South all day this year (actually, most years). Our grad program in Public Health might even help him in his quest to attend Medical School.

Oskidunker, living in Reno? He has never been considered as a Wolf Pack target.. They are looking for bigs, not guards.

Biomedical Science major with aspirations of med school.

I've said elsewhere that if South doesn't choose CAL it will be despite our really
excellent School of Public Health MPH not because of it.

We have had so many players come thru Haas that would not earn such distinction.
Let's not kid ourselves.

Hey, the guy can shoot. Who on the current roster made pac 12/any team?

Hopefully we can set some screens to get him open and maybe he plays better defense than McCullough. .

We have a bunch of open scholarships and unlike Kuany and Trios, he is a grad transfer, so the scholarship will be available again for 2020. There is zero cost, zero risk, and It would be worth bringing him in if only for scrimmages and depth, but he appears to be good enough to challenge for starting minutes. A complete no brainer.

Please clue me in why there's even a question.

We're up against some pretty tough academic competition.
Vandy, Northwestern???Minnesota's School of Public Health isn't in CAL's class, but it's not bad at all.

Smart kid. Eyes on med school. We've been calling out for shooting guard. He played on a team that
was offensively horrible (not as terrible as us, but...)...whichmay have held down is numbers. BTW: his team (as opposed to ours) was really good on D. Granted it's a lower standard of competition.....that is if we hold up last year's PAC12 to any standard at all.

Right now our starters and depth at SG are Matt Bradley, Matty Brandley, and tough kid who might prefer to dunk an opposing player to dunking a basketball.

Concur. This is a no-brainer. Kareem South looks to be a solid player with great skills; as an off-guard we can certainly use his talents. Plus, he is smart and in the Public Health/Medical field. Come on down, Kareem!

Absolutely. This isn't a "difference maker", but for sure a guy who can step in and give us 20-25 mpg, given the holes in our current roster. And, yes, a Masters in Public Health from "Berkeley" makes him pretty darn competitive for Med schools.
