In his first year as a head coach, Dennis Gates' team lost 20 games AND he was voted co-coach of the year. This is not meant to start a discussion as to whether Cal should have hired Gates instead of Fox. But, rather, to praise a Cal Bear for an accomplishment under very tough circumstances.

It's cool that Fox is getting mention. However, I seem to remember, three months ago, we were lamenting not playing UCLA at home, as that would be one of our best chances for a conference win. Mick Cronin wins in a landslide.
