Since Hyder is coming in and according to the article the NCAA is going to vote on if transfers can play the following year of their first transfer, does anybody out there have a guess (or opinion) of which way the NCAA is going to vote?

It would sure be nice if this kid could play for us this winter.

Only a guess but I think it will be approved.

Assuming the new rule is approved, what would be the approximate "deadline," practically speaking, to enter the transfer portal and still reasonably hope to play for a new school in this coming BB season, assuming the season starts in December. I mean, do you have to actually transfer in time to start the fall term at the new school, or no? And how long before the start of the fall term do you need to enter the portal - a week, a month, more? Is there some other practical "deadline" that is even earlier?

I know this is the wrong board, but what would be that practical "deadline" to enter the portal for the upcoming football season, assuming (however unlikely) that the FB season starts around Sept. 1.

In light of the possibility of this passing, i'm also thinking there would be value in keeping a scholly or two open... at least until we know if it is going to pass or not, and especially if the last scholly or two would otherwise go to deep bench players.

Agreed. Unless there is grad transfer PG, I'd hold onto the scholie and hope the rule passes. Worst case if it doesn't pass and you don't find a grad PG or a PG worth investing a 4 year scholarship on, you will just need to play one of the walk-ons 5 minutes as Brown's backup.

I'm with you on the first part but why would any of the walk ons get meaningful minutes at PG? We're better off running without a true PG for a few stretches every game. One of the other guards will have to walk it up and initiate the offense for a spell.

Sure, that could be an option too. Though if I am the opposing coach I definitely press and make them work to bring the ball up If only to tire them out, reduce their offense and increase their bench time. Thus, IMO the decision largely hinges on whether a walk-on is competent enough to play 5 minutes.
