I have never seen this young lady play but she stands 6-3 and is ranked #5 in Northern California for the 2024 Class by NorCal Preps. Cal now has the #4 PF Mafua (6-2) & #5 C Abigor (6-3). Has anyone seen her play for Berean Christian in the North Coast Section?

She is not ranked in the top 100 players in the nation by Hoopgurlz. Mafua is ranked the #98 best player (2024).

A lot to like - height, great stats, local player who wants a Cal degree and would likely stay and develop for four years.

She's not a household name yet, but Abigor is a strong candidate to be one of the top recruits in the state in the not-too-distant future. Abigor is one of the most productive players anywhere in high school hoops, averaging 28.6 points, 18 rebounds, 7.7 blocks, 4.6 steals, and 2.3 assists per game shooting 62% from the field. And she's doing it for a good team, leading the Eagles to a 21-6 record and dominating just as much in losses against great teams as in wins against good ones. Abigor is 6-3 with a 6-6 wingspan and an all-around impressive athlete for her size, and despite the Chamberlain-esque numbers she puts up, she's likely just scratching the surface of her potential.

So I have seen her play several times.

First, ignore the stats. They played a ridiculously soft schedule.

Second, she is athletic and a very good shot blocker and rim protector.

Third, she has not shown the ability to shoot beyond three feet.

Fourth, she is not exceptionally skilled as a passer or ballhandler.

She seems like a good kid with a good motor who has done well against low-level competition. The question will be whether she can score or contribute offensively at the P5 level.

Thanks, Clay. She will need to improve offensively her senior season. Hopefully, she'll learn to pass and handle the ball. It is not quite so important to be a scorer. If she can rebound and block shots, she'll receive PT.

Well, last season they played Benicia, Mt. Diablo, Ygnacio Valley, Concord and College Park - all wins!
Those seem to be large schools compared to Berean Christian. Right?

Plus, they had wins over two SF schools - Lick-Wilmerding and University.

Clay was referencing large to the question about school size. However, you are correct mbBear

Can't seem to find any videos. Will have to follow her this year when the schools start playing again, although she also seems to be on J. Kidd's summer team so maybe they will put up some highlights. If she can rebound and play defense without fouling, that will be a welcome foundation Would also like to know her free throw percentage. That usually indicates whether there is any hope that she will be able to further develop her shooting range.

Ygnacio Valley: 398
Mt. Diablo: 464

Berean's strength of schedule was 7.2, the same as Hoopa Valley, a small school near Eureka that doesn't travel much.

Mitty, at the top in NorCal, was 26.1.

Monte Vista 16.9.

Eureka 12.9.

Berean's best two wins were over Lick and University, both early in the year and both close.

They lost to an average Northgate team (ranked 238) by 38, and won one NCS D-5 game before losing to Mt. Diablo.

"Competent" was too strong. Some of the teams they played were nice lower level high school teams.

But Abigor could certainly turn into a solid player at Cal. Right now, she has some of the requisite tools to be successful, and conceivably add more. Certainly a player worth rolling the dice on ...

Wonder what Rashanda Gray's scouting profile looked like in high school. Dominant defense and rebounding is hard to find.
