6'0" W from LA Santiago HS in Corona but was a key member at powerhouse Etiwanda before transferring.

Currently ESPN's #96 but started out #24 (it appears she's been sidelined by injuries) Prospects Nation has her #43. IIRC, joined Cal Sparks after previously AAU with Why Not Premier.

Destiny possesses good offensive skills but is a tweener at six feet. She doesn't appear to be fast or quick on her
feet. I wonder if she can defend and/or rebound. On the YouTube video, Agubata seems to like to score inside but I'm wondering whether she'll be tall enough to do that in Div I basketball. There are lots of 6-0 post players in high school but how many at the next level? The only ones in college ball are jumping jacks or possess great foot speed. IMO-Destiny either needs to add a couple of inches to play inside or become a SF that can hit the three from the outside, etc. GO BEARS!

In the brief videos she doesn't look like a post player. I see her shooting from outside, passing, handling the ball, and running the court. If she has perimeter skills then 6'0" with a little bulk should be fine.

She has actually played a lot at the guard position in high school. Liked both her videos and her interview,,

I must be getting senile if you guys both think that she is fast enough to be a guard or wing player. Sorry.

The initial Highlight film showed her dominating ball in the prep game. She was bringing the ball down the court, setting up and shooting (hitting from long range). Time will tell whether she will be able to do that consistently after she steps up the competition. If she can consistently hit the 3 pointers, she will be an important contributor.

She will have to have teammates get her the ball where she can hit a suitable percentage.

Sabrina Ionescu wasn't the fastest player on the court, just the best.

I love what I'm seeing.

So, apparently she's coming back from an ACL but I think she did return in time for some AAU play with Cal Stars this past summer.

I understand the concerns, but I don't see reason to peg her a tweener. She looks sufficiently athletic (and more important high motor), and maybe her strong build overshadows her quicks. And she's showing timing, footwork, and skill with her post play, not just the typical high schooler resting on the laurels of her 5'11"-6'0" height advantage.

Her handles look good, no awkwardness when she does shoot it, and seems to look to pass when appropriate.

I'm predicting a steady continued development to a versatile guard/wing/small forward who exploits mismatches inside in college, not an undersized F/C. And it appears she gets after it on defense and can guard multiple positions, and we love a 2-way player.

A look at The LA Times' 10-player All-Star girls' basketball team for the 2021-22 season:

Destiny Agubata, Etiwanda, 6-0, So.: The versatile Agubata stamped herself as one of the best players from the Class of 2024, averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds.

List also included some impressive players: Londynn Jones (UCLA), Gabriela Jaquez (UCLA) and Juju Watkins (U$C). Also, Kennedy Smith, her Etiwanda teammate and Cal offeree for 2024.

Agubata recently visited Washington State. They've made a few finalist lists that impress me.

she is not extremely fast, but certainly not slow. she uses her body and she has excellent skill set and shoots well from outside. I see her as a power 3 or play her as a 4 in a one post 4 guard offense. it is all about how you run your offense and what your opponent runs as their offense. if your opponent is running a 4 guard offense and she is taller and stronger than their 4 guarding her, post her up. if their run a zone D, run her at high post. she would be fine at D-1 in the right offense. just my take as a high school coach, not a college coach.
