Today (Sunday) is a good day to scout the 1-0 Bulldogs before they take on our Bears on Thursday. They play at Stanford at Noon PT on ESPN2.

Their win came last Tuesday at home against Montana (82-69).

Also, never too early to scout our 12/13 opponent at the same time!
Go Bears

Has anyone noticed the three point shooting of the Cardinal early on? They hit 14 out of 20 against Washington State in their last game. I will be scouting both teams today.

If you want to watch this game,I finally found it on streaming through the Stanford athletics site. Somehow it ended up on ESPN3.

Stanford up 26-4 after one quarter. They look deep and like a Top 25 team. Gonzaga looks average and not very athletic thus far.

Note: it has now come on cable on ESPN2.

48-24 at the half. I think ESPN probably got it right. They had Gonzaga as only a twelve seed for the tournament. However, they are well-coached and will still be a tough game on the road.

Stanford may give everyone some trouble.

For Cal to pull off an upset tonight, the Bears need to shutdown frosh SG, Allie Turner (#11). She has scored 18 points in each of their two games, hitting 60% of her shots. Gonzaga has lost the majority of their offense from last season so it's their unstoppable post, Yvonne Ejim (#15), a 5th year senior, and the hotshot freshman. Turner has connected of 9 of 14 threes (64.3%) early on while no other Zag has more than two. Ejim scored 21 points in Berkeley last season and fouled out Michelle Onyiah in 16 minutes. I don't believe that Cal can stop their super star. The Bears could possibly out score the Zags tonight. Montana only lost to them by 13 points in Spokane in their opener.

I have to go to the dentist. GO BEARS!

I was correct that Cal might have to outscore Gonzaga! This was the best game that I have seen the Bears play under the direction of Charmin Smith. The team forced 24 turnovers (15 of which were steals). The team attempted to defend the Zag's two top scorers and succeeded early on but got in foul trouble. Both their stars scored 27 & 20 by the end of the game but Cal won, 86-65, to go 4-0 Great effort exhibited by the players on defense. Jayla Williams went off tonight with 25 points. GO BEARS!
