Last night on Christmas Eve, I was pleasantly surprised while looking at a feed on Tic Tok. There was a clip from ACCNX with L. Clarendon, Cal Final Four team member,(TV announcer) expounding on Zahara's behind the back ball movement move to the basket, and scoring from Sunday's Championship Game!! Other posts from the same WBB site had NotreDame's 2 outstanding players, Olivia Miles and Hannah Hildalgo.

In a recent article, not sure of the source, the author indicated there wasn't a strong bench for Cal. The article may have been written before Giselle Maul, Anastasia Drosouni and Zahara King had played substantial minutes in recent games. I focused on watching Jayda Noble during Sunday's game. Wow, her defense is amazing, she is after the ball in her opponent's hands, and everywhere it is on the court. I attended the game at SJSU earlier in the season, where the freshman played in the fourth quarter. They have improved coming off the bench knowing their role, and showing much gusto. Gabrielle Abigor is game! Natalia Acherman appears stronger, and contributes some needed minutes. I assume Marta will return for the ACC games, and hopefully, Lola will be able to play.

As others have said this is a good and special team. I attend every game and will be watching them on TV.

GO BEARS!!

I agree. (Some) people are impatient to see the first year players make a splash, but it is an adjustment to go from (top dog) in high school to D1 women's basketball for most. One thing I've noticed with Charmin is that she has been making an effort to put the newbies in as soon as possible of late. I'm sure she's seeing more confidence in practice and working out ways to take full advantage of her bench for the upcoming ACC slog. She's integrating them in a tactical fashion, particularly in games we should win even if the score not out of hand. That demonstrates a certain confidence in the team and willingness to give player's valuable experience versus running up the score (as some coaches seem prone to do). So far, I've been really happy to see their progress.

In addition to expecting freshman players to make a splash, some of the posters here are just impatient with their performances, period. Reminds me of a post someone made earlier this year about Gabby, stating that Cal needed to immediately find a backup center. A dozen games into her career and its easy to envision Gabby as a center to be reckoned with by any opponent by either next year or by her junior year. Same goes for Zahra, and possibly Lola and Anastasia. With the 5 star recruit coming in, the future looks bright. Hopefully we can keep portal exits minimized or eliminated.
