Bears will battle to keep their ranking or advance by facing North Carolina State #21 & Florida State #26 this weekend in Berkeley. All three teams are undefeated on their home courts. Alabama is rated #18 with a 15-1 record. Their only defeat was to Cal in Berkeley!

I didn't think we'd drop 4 spots after that loss. Oh well. Let's see what the Coaches poll says tomorrow.

Can't say I mind. I'm still in the "just happy to be here" phase of our presence among the elite.

I mind because we tend to get screwed when it comes to seedings and/or whether we make the tournament at all (e.g., see the baseball team last season). Right now we are safely in. But I can see a scenario where we lose a few games and the committee puts us in the first 4 out in order to let an SEC or B1G school in.
I get Alabama only has one loss, but we beat them so if they lose another, we should be ranked ahead of them. But I doubt we will be if that happens.

We're still a #7 seed in Charlie Creme's Bracketology released today (1/7).

In an update this past weekend, he had dropped us from a #6 seed to #7 after the Clemson loss.

Of note:

NC State #5
Florida State #7
Clemson #10

NC State had a home game against Clemson on December 29 and beat them by 4 points (83-79).

SFCB72-this weekend's two matchups are a measuring stick to where Cal really stands. Bears are a number 7 seed that faces a #5 seed in NC State & a #7 seed in Florida State. Show up and stand up & be counted Bears! THIS may be a *turning point* in the season for Charmin Smith and her team.

Imagine what this could accomplish if Cal could succeed. The team has already defeated 5 out of 6 NCAA Tournament teams this season and potentially could add a couple more to that list. Wow! GO BEARS!
