Thanks for sharing. Hope the commercial helps. The team deserves more support!

When this commercial was originally posted on Instagram, GM Meghin Williams said to initially look for it on Peacock.

The WNBA broadcasts some of its games on Peacock. So, it offers a great audience for the Bears' message.

I have not been to a Valkeries game at Chase. Is the noise level there as bad as it is in Haas? This commercial is great, but the noise level, as we have all discussed, is a concurrent de-marketing plan.

2026-27 commercial. Final shot has Puff standing right in the front? Update needed.

It looks like that image came from this 2025-26 season recap video.

I'll probably get roasted for this but I never understood the whole "play for the bay' deal. Doesn't a university team represent its university community? The school, the students, the alumni, the faculty and staff and what used to be called it's "sidewalk alumni."? What is The University of California doing repping Castro Valley, Antioch, San Rafael and Daly City? Never made sense to me, unless it was some sort of marketing tool that was meant to draw fans from nearby communities.

I think you're correct about trying to draw fans from nearby communities, where I think Cal is generally well regarded. I'd be happy to have more Cal fans who have no connection to the University other than proximity. And I'd be happy to have more WBB fans period.

Yes, that's exactly what it is.

Do you see a tremendous number of students, faculty and staff filling the seats each and every game at Haas for WBB?

Marketing to a broader audience is necessary.

It is a shame that we no longer have a lot of local players on the team. We drew families and other fans who had known those players in high school when they were here, especially if they also stayed for four years.

It also seems like the Valkyries have become the '"place to be", with lots of fun gatherings before and after the games. We need to figure out some version of that ourselves since getting to our games is not easy. I also think that we should play two or three of our own games each year at Chase in this new era.

Strongly disagree. I think as many college games as possible should be played on the campus of whichever is designated the home team. We've lost so many of the traditions that have made college sports special, I'd hate to add losing home games to that list. Let's make it easier for players, Rally Comm, the band, dance team and everyone else to make it to games by playing them at Haas where they belong.

2 and 3 seasons ago they had a few MBB and WBB double-headers, but not this past season

For me who drives 90 minutes to games it allowed me to go the more games

Cal WBB has also tried a few different things to increase attendance. An example was bringing the Hoop Bus outside Haas before a game. If you hit a shot they gave you a small prize and they let you try as many times you wanted

And they encouraged people who tried and people just walking by to attend the game

It was a fun event but I was a little disappointed there weren't a bigger crowd for this. They need to do a better job promoting to students beyond using social media

You look to broaden the base, have fans that are attached because the "community " is defined so that they feel part of it.
A school like Arkansas has fans truly from border to border...the largest population center for the fan base is pretty far from the University.

The bigger market we have to attract are the fans now going to Valkeries games. They are not coming here, so we will have to go to them, at least for a while.. Playing games in Haas is terrific. But for women's games, the vast majority of seats are empty.

What next a traveling road show? The Bears playing throughout Northern California to widen their fan base? If the team wants more butts in the seat there's one way that is your best shot: be a consistent winner. Playing in different venues, giveaways, special deals, gimmicks work for a game or two but ultimately people come to see a winner. And the best place to see them is on their home court. Period.

Historical large crowds showing up for women's basketball across the Bay. Historic small crowds showing up for women's basketball at Haas. We need to find some creative way to reach those fans who are now interested in the women's game.

Ballhalla is different....it's really hard to compare the two....Ballhalla the sounds is all around and the crowd can be thunderous. I don't find the music overly loud at Chase (like Haas)....However, I wear my ear plugs that disappate the sounds while allowing me to hear...I use both places.

Interesting point about music vs. crowd. As someone else here said months ago, real excitement comes, not from insanely over-amped music, but from enthusiastic fans--and god knows the fans at Chase are very, very enthusiastic.

I came across the video just posted featuring decibel meter readings from the recent Fever game at Ballhalla....

I have been in plenty of loud places over the years. But it is totally different when it is from the crowd reacting to the game versus electronically generated artificial noise even during timeouts. But we all know that. Our problem is that our de-marketing department does not.

I don't weaqrmy hearing aides to the games. Artificial noise is loud and boring. Let's hear the real thing.
