Ashley MacCalla, a 5-star guard in the Class of 2027, has an official visit to Cal scheduled for September 18 according to 247 sports

She's a 5'10 guard from Middletown, New York.

Other schools of interest: Virginia, LSU, Miami, South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Rutgers.

Another name to keep an eye on: Ze'ni Patterson, a 5'10 combo guard out of Archbishop Mitty and Class of 2027.

We are in her top 5 along with Harvard, TCU, UW and Michigan State.

This announcement was posted on Instagram by karismaortizbasketball.squarespace.com. Name sound familiar?

Patterson is from Brentwood. Commutes to Mitty every day, or has an apartment there or something.

Cal would be a lot closer.

I guess that's the advantage of private school. If you are good..'come on down'! What was the issue with Amador HS where coach was fired, games forfeited, and not eligible for 2 years the championship games due to use of a ineligible player. All the stories I see are paid sites.

Which falls mainly on the administration. The coach certainly knew the situation, but either thought he wouldn't get caught or had been told it wasn't a problem.

It's not that difficult to get a definitive ruling from NCS on eligibility, and there are only a few things that cause ineligibility. For the AD and administration not to have checked those things is basically ineptitude.

Ze'ni Patterson was the Monarch's top three-point shooter last season. Mitty had two other point guards that ran the offense. Patterson was a shooting guard, often hitting from the corner. I mentioned that Cal should check her out. She is fast and athletic.

The three top players that should return would be #1 junior PF Maliya Hunter (6-2), #22 senior SG Zeni Patterson (5-10) & #12 senior PG Tee McCarthy (5-7). Zi Patterson, her twin (#11), will compete for a starting wing position this season along with star players from Archbishop Mitty's JV & Frosh teams. I have not heard anything regarding transfers. GO BEARS!

Zi has also posted on Instagram that her top 2 college choices are: Cal State San Marcos and Cal State Bakersfield.

There may be connections we don't know about. Personally I would need a really strong connection to consider Bakersfield and if I had other scholarship offers I would look outside of the Cal State system.
