Wow. Stanford loses to Arizona 84-69, with 8 Assists and 30 TO's.

Puff started for Arizona, played 25 minutes, scored 11, 3 rebounds, 5 assists. I wish her well.

Kate Paye is not a good coach. The whole team left because they can't stand her, or so it appears.

She may not last the season.

Yeah, I think she only kept her job after last season since Tara had sort of set her up for the job. It's really strange to see someone who'd sat beside Tara for all those years, and played under her, turn out to be quite a different head coach than folks expected. Oh well, I'm not exactly shedding any tears for them....

Different personalities for sure. Also different responsibilities. A very good assistant coach can be a terrible head coach.

Women's Basketball at Arizona 11/2/2026 - Stanford Cardinal - Official Athletics Website

Puff Morris also had three turnovers. I believe that her former Etiwanda teammate, Aryn Finley, is a freshman guard for the Wildcats. Finley tallied ten points. The Cardinal really needs a quality point guard. Stanford commited thirty turnovers.

I think 5 players transferred out:

Puff to AZ
King to SMU
Maufa to Utah
McCallop to Arkansas
Donez to Fresno State

King was a loss, and Puff might be good on the right team, but I don't see the others starting this season

Opinions?

I think Mccallop was the biggest loss. She would have had a strong role on this team. The others I think were net upgrades:

I like that Charmin is now going with a potential 10-player rotation. If you want to keep people from transferring, you have to give them some playing time. And freshmen don't develop sitting on the bench.

It also allows us to play at a faster pace and with greater intensity.

I miss only King and McCallop but I prefer the players who stayed.

not sure what people saw in McCallop ... a guard that couldn't shoot ... King showed potential if she cut down on her turnovers and Puff had talent on the right team

Perhaps she's been considering the Valks' success.

Good point. Especially focusing on defensive intensity.

Also, now that we have opened up an international pipeline, it is important to show that if good internationals come all of the way here, they will get a chance to play and develop.
