I'm ready to pour all my Cal fandom, the hopes and the dreams, into this women's basketball team. Lord knows I'm not focusing on football anymore. Go Lulu, go Taylor, go Gisella, go Ruby and the newbies. I can't wait to see what we look like tonight!

No. Mens game ended about 7 so women's tipoff will be 730 (or so)

Reason this is at all close is because Syla just can't hit those inside shots. Hopefully that can be improved.

I don't know who they thought they were kidding by announcing a 7:00 start time when the men's game began at 5:00. As it was tip off was at 7:48. Anyway a decent number of people stuck around to see the women. Cougars were a pesky team with an aggressive defense and decent shooting which made them hard to put away. Some typical early season sloppiness from the Bears but a lot to like from the usual suspects like Lulu, Naya, and Shannon. Interesting that by early in the second quarter Charmin had already used nine players. I'm sure she's still figuring out what her rotation is going to be and she's trying to give as many players minutes as she can. Minutes will be tougher to come by for some players when Mrjacle is back. In any case this may be the deepest team we've ever had.

Good first game effort. Everybody (except Mjracle again) played and played hard. Our guards contributed a lot of rebounds which I always like to see.

We may have trouble with teams that have strong post players since our stronger players are just 6'-1" and 6'-2". Perhaps we'll need to double team inside and hope we don't give up too much outside. Tonight we played Albina, Naya, and Jovana approximately equal minutes so at least they stayed fresh.

Looking at the stats I see we shot 42% on threes and 86% on free throws but a more down-to-earth 41% on twos. Also we out-rebounded WSU by 14 and committed only 7 fouls and 9 turnovers.
