Archbishop Mitty jumped on Carondolet from the opening tip and won easily 78-64. The Monarchs had 20 point leads in both the 3rd & 4th quarters
but Carondolet never gave up, cutting the margin down to 9 points.

Mitty plays nine players that are all quality...There are no Div I stars yet but there's only a single senior. The player with most potential is six foot frosh, Haley Jones. I could see her developing into the next Kelli Hayes...This Mitty group has five African Americans, two Caucasion Americans, one Hispanic American & one Japaneses American. Two 6-2 centers, soph Nicole Blakes & junior Tahlia Garza, provide the post presence but the best overall player right now is junior Maddy Holland. She leads the team in rebounding and yet can play point guard (4.8 apg) and is perfect (4-4) on her three pointers. Every member of the rotation (9) has scored between 21-45 points over four victories. Soph point guard (6-0), Karisma Ortiz, threw several passes the length of the court for easy fast break baskets. The next two best players behind Holland are two more junior guards/wings, Helena Hill & Daniella Gugliemo. Hill has the best foot speed and finishes on the break. Tiny (5-1) soph Krissy Miyahara & 5-2 senior Janae Anderson are dead-eye three point shooters.

Anyone seen any of these aforementioned teams play, yet? I think that coach Gottlieb should keep her eye on Haley Jones. GO BEARS!

I haven't seen every team in the CCS yet but I predict AM to be the best team. Pinewood lost star soph post, Stella Kailahi, during the summer due to a knee injury which dims their hopes. They defeated Salesian 10 days ago, however, by six points in Los Altos. Their top scorer early has been another true frosh, 5-10 Hannah Jump, who is averaging 10.8 ppg. Pinewood's tallest player is 5-10 matched up vs Salesian's 6-5 frosh, Jackson, & USC PG commit, Minyon Moore.

Pinewood will face BOD this Saturday in San Jose at a Presentation High tourney. Saint Francis-Mtn View, Scotts Valley, Palo Alto, Eastside College Prep, Presentation & several WCAL teams [Valley Christian, Sacred Heart Cathedral &, St Ignatius] look strong, too.
