UCLA will be favored. They are 3-0 against the Bears, and still unbeaten. That will get them the #1 seed next week and likely in the NCAA tournament. That matters because the path to the championship game will be a bit easier than the team coming out of the 2/3 match.

Agreed…UCLA will be favored. The path is harder from the 2-3 side with the drop off outside of the top MPSF teams but the Bears are definitely a huge threat with a relatively healthy Papa.

Weinberg looked very good yesterday. Cal did not look in sync at either end of the pool, but Stanford never looked like they had a chance of winning yesterday…whether Papa with a timely play (drawn exclusion, steal, goal or just plain attracting a crowd on offense) or Weinberg with a great save those two demonstrated how they can carry a team through a weekend tournament. That said, Stanford was on its third string goalie so…who knows how good this win was relative to UCLA.

very, very unlikely given that UCLA has beaten them three times this fall.

Even though Papa had a hat trick, it still looked to me like he was getting his sea legs back underneath him and his teammates also had to get used to him being back in the line-up.

I thought that Adrian Weinberg was superb!

I agree that UCLA is a near lock for the #1 seed at NCAA's. Their regular season results warrant that.
