Bears just finished beating #2 Hawaii 9-6 at Spieker this evening.

The bRuins edged Stanfurd, 10-8 earlier today setting up tomorrow's National Championship match.

Go Bears!!!

A significant milestone. The Bears haven't made a final in 15-20 years(possibly never). Unless Mo made a final 20+ years ago, this is the first final with a team coached by a woman.

I watched yesterday's match but missed today's semi-final vs Hawaii. I believe that Cal's women have definitely not won a national championship in eons if ever. It would be cool if both the men's & women's teams captured the national crown in the same year. UCLA is still undefeated (25-0). It's primetime on ESPN at 7 pm tomorrow night.

GO BEARS!

The Bears crushed it today....Wahine came out crashing hard on set and Dempsey made them pay with a first quarter hat trick from the perimeter. Huge! With Isabelle Williams in cage, Hawaii was never going to come all the way back. Very strong showing against a strong Hawaii squad riding high on the emotion of trying to send off Maureen Cole with her and their first ever trip to a NCAA final.

Don't be fooled by the UCLA final score...they took it to the Olympics squad depleted Cardinal. After it was tied 4-4 at half, UCLA scored the first 3 goals of the third quarter and were in control the rest of the way with the Cardinal scoring 2 in the last minute+

Cal's last (and only?) trip to the NCAA finals was 2010, 2011 or 2012 under (can't remember which year). Looking forward to taking advantage of the afore mentioned Olympic depleted Cardinal (4 starters taking a year off to play on the senior national team) and stealing the title from the Bruins (fUCLA despite the Calimony) thereby ruining their undefeated season and yet another kiss of to the P12 saboteurs!

Watch on ESPNU or ESPN+ at 7 pm PACIFIC if you can! If you're in town, Spieker is the best venue in all of US Water Polo with the walls, Haas/Harmon and RSF reflecting the noise. Would hope the Straw Hat Band can make an appearance! Let's make it a WP Natty sweep!

Go Bears!

Edited to add that I can't remember which year it was, but just saw in the USA WP feed that it was 2011

Edited again to correct to 7 pm PACIFIC and more tickets being released!

It's a sell out today so don't venture to the match if you are not holding tickets.

Bears Reach First NCAA Final Since 2011 - California Golden Bears Athletics (calbears.com)

Cal lost a defensive game in Berkeley to UCLA, 7-6. IMO-this is the only way that the Bears can stay in it against the undefeated Bruins. Cal's defense has been strong this season with AA goalie Isabel Williams. GO BEARS!

This is the defensive game that Cal needs to stay in it. Tied at halftime, 2-2. UCLA will be tough to stop offensively so Cal needs to find a way to score. The Bears are not strong at center like the Bruins. It's making Cal shoot difficult shots from outside. GO BEARS!

Final: 7-4 UCLA

Cal lost to UCLA earlier this season 7-6 in Berkeley. Bear's defense is as tough as the Bruins have faced. Next season Cal will need to improve their offense especially due to the loss of GK Isabel Wiliams. GO BEARS!
