Went to game with Harvard yesterday (I played for Harvard Field Hockey many moons ago) so I was kinda cheering for both squads. Harvard (ranked #6 pre-season) won in OT so it was a good game...
However, I must say I was very disappointed in the bleacher set-up... I get that the team isn't a high priority to Cal Athletics and was evicted from their nice field adjacent the stadium to be relegated to this field atop the Underhill parking garage for various reasons. (Seeing shipping container style locker rooms was a bit jarring too but I digress)....The bleacher set-up is atrocious....It would be nice to actually be able to SEE the entire field of play.
The bleachers are set up behind the benches which feature large roofs to protect the teams from weather which makes sense, but the design is such that even when seated in very the top row one can't see play on the near sideline. Kids soccer facilities I've been to have much nicer bleacher set-ups. I know they're dealing with limited space, but come on....yikes.
I just can't fathom when they can't design seating for fans that provides a decent fan experience? It shouldn't be that difficult.
