My other theory, which I've mentioned before, is that Trump is the Jimmy Carter of the Republican party.

Jimmy Carter won in 1976 and lost in 1980.

Donald Trump won in 2016 and lost in 2020.

In 1984 and 1988, Democrats ran Carter-like candidates for president and lost. They were stuck in the Carter malaise until Bill Clinton.

In 2024, Republicans have Trump. Now with Biden out of the race, the focus (while of course going to Kamala) will also go back to Trump's faults, which haven't been kind to the Republican party electorally speaking.

The world moves fast these days.

The Biden debate disaster is ancient history.

The Trump assassination attempt, while seemingly huge news at the time, is also beginning to feel like ancient history because the story had no legs.

So my prediction is that 1) Trump will lose in 2024, 2) Trump or a Trump-like Republican will lose in 2028 because the Republican party will still be the Trump party and 3) The Republicans will find their own "Clinton" in 2032.

If that's the best name Trump can come up with, I think Kamala will be OK. If the GOP attacks Kamala for the Willie Brown affair, that opens the door for all the sexual misconduct from Trump. Hardly an even contest there.
