I don't know, but the word has come down from higher management levels to not refer to the Gulf of Mexico. It better be called the Gulf of America or ELSE! It's really not a problem for me as working 1500-2000 miles away, I don't think I've ever had to mention the Gulf of <that of which we dare not speak the name> in anything I've ever written up for public consumption. If I ever do, I'll just call it the Gulf and figure people will work it out from the context.
