Did something happen between Jan 2021 and November 2024?

The Biden admin and other progressives took the Dem party to the far left and adopted policies that were anti-free speech and in many cases very unpopular. Musk, like a lot of other centrist dems, where pushed to Trump.

Had Biden governed like a centrist (as he promised in his campaign), Musk is probably still voting dem.

I would agree with what you just said about the Democrats moving away from the center.
Peggy Noonan said the same thing on February 6th in her Op-Ed piece.
