Appreciate all the ideas, solutions and discussion.
First, the software of this website is limited in its flexibility and extensibility so while there many good automated solution ideas, almost none of them are feasible.
Our plan going forward is really simple:
(1) Personal attacks equate to a one warning and then six month and finally a permanent ban. I'm broadening the definition of what constitutes a personal attack to include anything I believe is a cute attempt to insult or demean someone without being explicit
(2) Any post that is simply a cut and paste of a social media or URL post without commentary is disallowed with the same moderation/banning policy as above.
(3) If you post something which you believe has a greater than 33% chance of not being true, don't do it. Anyone that continues to post questionable content is going to be exited.
(4) Trolling = the same as the two points above. It's subjective but if we feel someone is working against making this a functional and healthy community, they're going to be exited
(5) A broad catch all - If we believe someone behaves in a way that we believe does not have the well being of this community, this specific message board or Cal Athletics as their intent, they are going to be exited.
(6).Excessive flagging of anything that clearly does not violate the TOS or the above is also going to lead to being exited.
