Hassan Piker is suing MAGA CNN commentator Scott Jennings for $72.5 million. Scott Jennings aired doctored video that was edited and manipulated to remove context that showed that Piker was making fun of somebody else's words. The video had been doctored by somebody else.
We all know MAGA Scott Jennings knew what he was doing. And Jennings failed to issue a retraction when requested by Piker's attorneys. To me, that shows evidence of intent to mislead. But, from a legal standpoint, what is somebody's culpability when playing somebody else's doctored video? I think somebody with the platform Jennings has should be expected to conduct a little due diligence before spreading online videos.
Piker has requested a jury trial and I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
