Some recruiting updates
Let's go through a list of targets and see how Cal is doing with them:Tight End Stevie Amar - Amar made an official visit to Berkeley in May. That was prior to TE Jacob Houseworth giving the Bears his verbal pledge. While I think cal would take another TE, Amar doesn't feel like a fit and will likely choose between BC and BaylorRunning Back Nate Sheppard is still very much in play. It'll be an academic battle between Duke, Northwestern and Cal. To close to call at this point.OT Manamo'ui Muti remains the top target on the OL board. The Hawaii native is likely watching the pipeline for the Bears in the 2025 class from the Islands and that can only be a positive for Cal. Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA are his other leaders though it appears the Bears and Wildcats may have the momentum. Muti plans to wait until the season starts before making a decision. Cal will be patient. At the very least expect 1-2 more OL in this class. The Bears are battling for a pair of defensive tackles with loaded offer lists - Dilan Battle and Xavier Ukponu. They have similar suitors with LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Cal involved with both. USC also wants Battle while Texas and Okla State are going after Ukponu. We expect both to decide in the next four weeks. Cal could really use one or ideally both of them so expect them to bloody their knuckles in the hopes they can upset one of the bluebloodsILB Nusi Taumoepeau might have some of the best film for a player at his position that I've seen in a long time. He's a beast. This one is a two team dog fight, between the Bears and Stanford. I'd love to see Cal grab another DB and Edge rusher along with 1-2 WRs, however, I would be patient as some verbals of guys the Bears wanted may not stick through to signing and there's no reason to reach in the era of the transfer portal.

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Bear Insider rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Bear Insider Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Bear Insider readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Cal and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Cal and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
