Prep Recruiting - 2025 class
Some good and some less than ideal thus farThe defensive side of the class is coming together solidly with good pieces at all three levels. And one or two more adds to that side with quality players. The offensive side has been slower. A lot rests on the decision of Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele . He's more talented than anyone Cal has added out of HS in the Wilcox era. Bigger name schools will get on him and perhaps even recruit over current commits to land him. It's going to be a bit of an uphill battle going against programs that have had more success on the field and in sending players to the NFL at key position groups. Baron Naone's recent decision for UW over Cal and Chris Lawson's likely decision to follow him there underscore the challenge. UW was in the National Championship last year and put three WRs into the NFL in the first three rounds. And two TEs have been drafted in the past four years.Yes, it's a new staff there but even on that front, Jedd Fisch has developed a slew of top WRs (McMillan, Singer, etc).Prep recruiting's trajectory does not improve IMO until Cal wins big and starts to see more talent find their way into the NFL draft. That can happen this year with a strong roster and an easier schedule. The Bears also have draft eligible players with NFL prospects - Ott, N WIlliams, Harris, Woodson, Endries, Dykes, Carlton, Buchanan, etc

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a Bear Insider rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the Bear Insider Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide Bear Insider readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Cal and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Cal and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
