Cal Captains Named for Ole Miss Matchup Saturday

A new trio of captains were named for Cal's third game of the season this weekend against Ole Miss: Senior receiver Jordan Veasy, junior running back Patrick Laird and senior middle linebacker Ray Davison.

Veasy scored a key touchdown in the Bears' opening day victory over North Carolina and has six catches for 65 yards (10.83 ypc) for the season to-date.

Laird is coming off a breakout performance in Cal's 33-20 win over Weber State on Saturday, scoring three touchdowns, including two dramatic long romps. Laird leads the team with 200 yards on the ground along with four touchdowns on the season.

Davison led the Bears in tackles with 12 last weekend, also causing two fumbles critical in the Bears' victory.

The Bears will square off with Ole Miss Saturday night in Memorial Stadium at 7:30 pm on national tv.
