The Sights, Sounds and Traditions of Gameday at Cal

There are few, if any more scenic, historical or traditional places to take in the full experience of gameday in America than at California Memorial Stadium and the University of California campus.

The beautiful neoclassical style stadium, built in 1923 and designed largely by famed architect John Galen Howard, Memorial Stadium is more beautiful and vibrant than it's ever been, particularly in games set with a stunning sunset like last night's for Cal's big showdown with SEC power Ole Miss in Cal's 27-16 upset victoy on national tv.

For those that have grown up with the tradition of gamedays in Strawberry Canyon and all the passions and emotions it evokes, from Tightwad Hill to the band in Sproul Plaza, the March to Victory, tailgates and fraternity parties, Top Dog, Henry's, Fat Slice and more, a stroll through the campus and the beautiful walk up the hill on the approach to Memorial, it's hard to summarize the feelings that come with the whole experience.

Be that as it may, as a tribute to the gameday experience of thousands of Cal fans the world over, we'd like to give you a glimpse of all of the above as well as the emotional finish from the field to help encapsulate what exactly makes gameday at Memorial so special.

Hope it's as fun to watch as it was to make. Go Bears

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

In the spirit of a being supportive and thankful critic, is it me or is there a smudge in the middle top of the frame throughout? Also, any chance the University has a camera stabilization solution? A few shots might also be improved by drone perspectives, although I know nothing about the rules about using them in Berkeley.

These projects require a huge amount of work. Thanks for taking you time both before, during and after, as we as viewers on get to see some of the work in the middle.

btw, am i the only fan of ib hoagies on the board? i loved their reuben sandwich (especially with a sid order of cheese fries)...i was surprised that no ib hoagies footage made the cut...that said, top dog is muy excelente!

also, why no la burrita footage? the cheeststeak burrito is an epiphany!
