Grading the 2019 Cal Defense

Heading into the 2019 football season, the Cal defense was hyped as potentially being one of the best defenses in the country. Coming off a huge 2018 season where the Bears gave up an average of just 20.38 points and 317 yards a game, those near — and far — from the program expected another step forward.
