Report Card: Free Throws, Rebounds Doom Bears in Boulder

February 7, 2020
663

With 5:16 remaining in Boulder, Paris Austin hit a triple to put the Cal Bears within two points of the No. 24 Colorado Buffaloes. For 35 minutes, the Bears had gone toe-to-toe with the Buffs but in the end, couldn’t get over the hump and Colorado eventually pulled away, winning 71-65.

Similar to its game against Oregon last Thursday, Cal wouldn’t go away and trailed by just four points with 32 seconds to play after being down by nine with 1:07 to play. But a trio of Buffs combined to make six straight free throws and the Bears eventually lost going to 10-12 on the season and 4-6 in Pac-12 play.
