In contrast to the 2015 and 2016 classes, rated 29th and 27th respectively, with 24 and 27 signees, Cal football’s 2017 class was small, with just 14 signees and one of the lowest-rated in decades, at #75. The class rating was reflective of both the small number of signees as well as their individual ratings.

The class was the last remnants of the Sonny Dykes Era.
